Alec and Libby. For as short as this book is, the characters are very well developed, addictive and intriguing. This author centers her stories in NYC often and it adds to the mystery and intensity of the men. When I think about moving from a small town at the age of 20-30 to New York, I think about the rich, attractive uninhibited alpha males on the prowl for the night. The men of her stories are almost always abrupt and without fear. I love that they all fall-- and quickly. Each man usually carries a bit of baggage and the author does a great job of mixing up the plots.I am as addicted to her books now as when I read my first one. Libby might just be one of my favorite female characters. Strong and sarcastic---love main female character like her! Not too quick to trust men with her heart but more than willing to jump into bed for physical pleasure. Love it.
Awesome plot- great characters. And Axel NY shows up in each story! Love the ties throughout each series.

SOLO edition by Deborah Bladon Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Alec appears to be the quintessential NY business man bossy, arrogant. Rich, and sexy...and a reputation of bedding women..one right after another! Libby is the actress with fire in her eyes to succeed on stage in NY. She is young and beautiful and talented. She comes from money, but her father does not support her Broadway dreams, so she's a pauper. Alec invests in plays...he sees Libby and wants her. She has heard the rumors and though she tells him no and avoids his advance. THIS is a love story of lost love, blame, hurt and yet redemption. This story will stay with you long after the final pages have been consumed. The growth and development of the characters is as amazingly written as the plot line. Excellently, sensually, written!
I heard about Alec and Libby in another series so it was great reading their story and how they got together. Alec is what you would expect the rich hot sexy phlandering man. Libby is an actress trying to make it and she catches Alec's eye. Most think for this show at least. That is until Alec finds out she is not like all the rest and even he can't explain the pull towards her. Of course there is a deep secret that can tear them apart.
When all is revealed you see that Alec is not that hard shell exterior rich boy who only wants to score. He has a heart that has been broken and obligations that are being forced on him. You keep hoping for these two to get their happy ending even with the forces trying to keep them apart. Another worthy read from Deborah Bladon
This book could have been a lot more and a lot less creepy. I've read a lot of Deborah Bladon's books and generally the man always comes with his demons, but he is willing to fight them with the help of whatever woman is at his side. This book is different. Alec is just a nasty, creepy, jerk. I didn't find any redeeming qualities in his characters that even made his salvageable at the end. He uses women without thoughts regarding the consequences. Even the personal demon he has to battle isn't a big deal. Its more selfish on his part. His "guilt" is more due to his ridiculously large ego. Even after I finished the book, I can't figure out just what was fixed between Alec and Libby. Suddenly they were living their happily ever and that was it. Not a fan of this book at all and really disappointed in the characters.
Such a great book. The heartless jerk finds his heart when a attractive blonde makes him feel alive again. I really loved how Libby made Alec work for her. A lot of times the heroine changes after a kiss or an orgasm from the hot hero. Libby didn’t do that, even though she fell in love she still wanted a career.
I just loved this book, the writing, the story, the characters and even a perfect ending/epilogue.
I bought Solo on a whim when it was 99 cents. And I have to say that I am glad I did because I have never read any other books written by Deborah Bladon.
Right off the bat, the very first page, I had to cringe when Alec approached Libby in the elevator. That was the first of many times. Guys just don't talk like that. I understand why he was so abrasive, rude, and had a huge ego (once I got towards the end of the book), but it still didn't make it okay. Alec is hilarious; I mean he is absolutely freaking hilarious with his thoughts and his relationship with his male assistant. I could have listened to the two of them all day. However, there was so much content that could have been added to this book to make it FANTASTIC! The relationship between Libby and Alec was so rushed, and I think we (the readers) could have benefited from knowing more about Libby's relationship with her family as well as Alec's relationship with his family and other relatives (don't want to spoil it here).
In my opinion, this is a great beach read because it requires zero thinking, and it's a quick read. On the bright side, I have a found a new author to read!
I don't usually write reviews but I just have to tell "Gadget Girl" that she should really read the book before giving her opinion. I read several reviews of this book mostly very positive before reading her poor review, she blasted the book even after admitting that she hadn't really read it. Wow, who does something like that?
The book was great! I thought the author did a fine job of defining her characters, I could tell from the beginning that the lead characters were going to be good for each other. I read the book from beginning to end without putting it down. It was funny and heart wrenching at the same time. The intimate scenes were tasteful, though some of the language was unnecessarily dirty. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and has an open mind. (Unlike "Gadget Girl.)
